General Manager Empaque

Job Description: 

Andrew & Williamson Fresh Produce started over 25 years ago as a family business. Although we have grown significantly, we still run our business as if each team member is part of that family. We are currently seeking a General Manager Empaque in San Quintin, Baja, Mexico.

Compensation/Salary:

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Provide leadership for the successful day-to-day operation of the facility
  • Work closely with quality personnel to review product consistency while monitoring shrink rates to determine trends and areas of improvement
  • Develop and review established production schedules to insure established inventory levels are met while operating at the highest efficiency possible
  • Coordinate the hiring and training of all processing plant personnel
  • Monitor operation expenses and research ways to reduce costs while maintaining product quality
  • Work closely with the Environmental Health and Safety Manager to ensure all members of the processing team are aware of safety policies to provide a safe workplace for our team
  • Maintain inventory levels and control flow of product from our packing sheds/fields to A&W San Diego
  • Maintain and support a superior safety and housekeeping program, including all timely communication initiatives
  • Develop and execute the plant manufacturing budgets and cost models
  • Manage Profit & Loss for the plant
  • Develop, organize & manage product quality and efficiency analytics (white boards etc..)
  • Analyze workforce requirements
  • Conduct performance appraisals and provide coaching and guidance to all team members
  • Encourage and promote operating in a continuous improvement environment
  • Remove production constraints; allocate human and equipment resources and direct production employees to attain all established goals
  • Remove waste and constraints from the production process to improve efficiencies and enhance productivity and product quality (maximize the use of all fruit including #2 product at each shed)
  • Communicate with A&W technical and product management personnel to develop new product strategies
  • Work with A&W construction personnel to build and maintain plant facilities
  • Work with Agroindustrias A&W Payroll and Accounting Services to ensure the proper and timely input and reporting of information and payroll activities
  • Work with Empaque San Quintin to insure staffing needs, proper receiving of raw product and shipping of finished product
  • Work with purchasing manager to develop and improve supplier relationships
  • Create and approve purchase orders for Purchasing Manager to place orders  
  • Maintain security and access procedures
Education: 
  • BS/MS in a business, finance, operations, management, engineering or other related field
Qualifications: 
  • Experience in fresh-cut & value-added a plus
  • Spanish/English bi-lingual
  • Ability to travel to the USA
  • A strong customer focus
  • 3+ years progressive experience in a key leadership/management role at a manufacturing or processing facility
  • Leader Coach leadership style
  • Previous experience/strong understanding of budgeting/expense management with a basic understanding of financial and accounting practices
  • Strong computer skills including the ability to prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Power Point etc..) to analyze data and trends
  • Previous experience/best practices implementing and using continuous improvement/lean tools to drive improvement
  • Previous experience/broad understanding of quality, food safety and personnel safety systems
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, team building and advanced coaching skills
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate people, assess and develop team member skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles and applications associated with processing operations, maintenance and engineering
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to balance production and maintenance needs
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and listening ability
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
