Logistics Manager

Job Description: 

Apio Inc/GreenLine Logistics is seeking an experienced Logistics Manager, based out of our Bowling Green, OH facility. The Logistics Manager will lead company in developing and implementing a responsive logistics support to servicing customers. Responsible for managing the transportation department or unit or a company. Hires, trains, and supervises employees and manages scheduling of shipments. Provides national oversight of finished product transportation activities to customers and to forward distribution and cross-dock shipments to ensure exceptional customer service. Plan, organize and manage the work of staff to ensure that the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with organizational requirements. Direct investigations and works with Customer Service to verify and resolve customer complaints.

Develop and implement a logistics network to consolidate and distribute value-added product to national and regional customers. This includes route efficiency and performance, fleet utilization, backhauling, carrier administration, and oversight of coordination and communication within the supply chain environment of the company. Focus on speed, cost effectiveness and response to customer’s requirements. Manage all aspects of logistics, including warehousing/ distribution, backhauling, inbound logistics, delivered transportation, routing and fleet utilization, route planning and pricing, and logistics network optimization.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee transportation department, including its assets and employees.
  • Manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between Sales, Customer Service, Production, and Procurement. 
  • Manage the inbound loads and coordinate with production facilities for accurate arrival times
  • Carrier Contract negotiations and compliance
  • Development of carrier scorecards and formalized, structured carrier business reviews
  • Ensure customer goods move from production through the supply chain to the end user.
  • Plan and implement budgets.
  • Utilize services of less-than-truckload carriers and air-forwarders to handle fulfillment shipments.
  • Supervise scheduling of shipments.
  • Review financial reports.
  • Manage performance of Hub employees with emphasis on productivity, efficiency, and service delivery.
  • Lead all distribution and transportation planning and strategic activities.
  • Recruit, interview, select, train, motivate, and coach administrative staff and drivers.
  • Assist in the identification and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities and customer satisfaction opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in logistics or business administration
  • Knowledge of Freight Brokerage Processes
  • Experience in Produce industry is ideal
  • Requires proven team building, negotiating, communication, organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Direct experience with routing and load planning. Knowledge of routing software and transportation management systems
  • Private fleet experience (desired, but not necessary), Asset Management, DOT HOS Compliance, Monitor compliance with local, state, federal safety, motor carrier and environmental laws and regulations, Freight Claims and loss management, personnel management and expense management
  • Experience with Forward Distribution
  • Knowledge of transportation law
