Operations Manager

Job Description:

We are a dynamic and growing company seeking an Operations Manager to drive productivity and efficiency, provide strong leadership and continuity of process in our 24/7 distribution warehouse.   We are currently located in Charlottesville but have plans to move our operations to Louisa in late 2015.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of warehouse and fleet operations and work cooperatively with other members of the management team;
  • Collaborate with Inside Sales Manager, and Sales Manager to ensure outstanding customer care by staying abreast of customer requirements and expectations.  Seek out information on a daily basis to effectively address concerns regarding delivery, product, and any operational issues that may impact our customers;
  • Perform or oversee daily inspection and routine maintenance to insure that all coolers, other warehouse facilities and trucks function properly and are being maintained in a clean and orderly manner, and in accordance with company policies and procedures for food safety and security;
  • Perform all duties in accordance with company policies for food safety and food security;
  • Maintain and update as needed Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for all processes and procedures in accordance with the food safety and food security requirements; 
  • Hold regular safety meetings and, as needed, staff training sessions;
  • Manage warehouse and driver staff and assign daily duties and tasks, preparing work schedules, assigning specific duties, create and promote a positive, respectful work environment; 
  • Hire, coach, appraise performance, apply corrective action, and terminate if necessary the warehouse and driver staff, as required;
  • Oversee the administration of the proper inventory controls by using daily and monthly inventory adjustment reports, buyers tally and other reports regarding quantity, quality and proper warehouse storage placement;
  • Manage and lead the warehouse staff (team leads and team members) to efficiently and accurately pick customers’ orders,  load delivery trucks, receive inbound freight, and maintain a clean, safe, and secure working environment; 
  •  Load or supervise loading of delivery trucks and picking of customer orders to insure accuracy and efficiency;
  • Manage the movement of product into and out of the facility, insuring proper storage, handling, and distribution;
  • Oversee freight operations to insure product meets count expectations and quality specifications;
  • Oversee product returns and credits in accordance with company policy;
  • Manage inventory maintenance, insuring proper product rotation, labeling, and quality inspection;
  • Supervise driver staff by assigning routes, distributing route documents, checking drivers in or out, processing paperwork, inspecting trucks, and assigning duties as needed;
  • Oversee operation of routing software to meet customer delivery requirements while maximizing efficient use of fuel and driver’s time.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • Five (5) years warehouse operations experience one (1) year as an Operations Manager or Assistant Operations Manager;
  • One to two (1-2) years of general supervisory/management experience, including performance management and conflict resolution;
  • Produce/food service industry experience helpful;
  • Excellent organization skills, attention to detail, and follow through coupled with the desire to exceed customers’ expectations;
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, including MS Word, MS Excel, Gmail, etc.  Working knowledge of ProducePro helpful; 
  • Ability to manage processes and monitoring their performance; experience in establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
  • Ability to become proficient with new software systems,
  • Demonstrated, strong problem-solving skills, resolves matters quickly and appropriately;
  • Great employee relations and customer service skills;
  • Knowledge and application of safe procedures and workflow in a light industrial setting;
  • Operate forklifts and other warehouse machinery properly and possess correct OSHA certifications to operate same;
