Quality Control/Produce Inspector

Job Description: 

DLJ Produce was founded in 1993 with the goal of bridging the communication and building partnerships among growers, shippers, retailers and foodservice customers.  Currently DLJ Produce ships to more than 20 states, and several countries and has working relationships with more than 100 shippers around the world.  The DLJ Produce import program represents over 10 countries globally with year-round shipments available.  The DLJ Produce domestic program along with the import program allows DLJ to provide year-round fresh products featuring sales and marketing expertise to our many supply partners.

We are looking for a Quality Control Inspector who will be responsible for performing inspections, checks, and tests on product to ensure that all inbound and outbound product meet standards of quality and safety.

Requirements: 
  • Produce experience preferred.
  • Must be willing to work in a refrigerated warehouse environment with exposure to extreme cold (32ºF - 45ºF) and damp conditions. 
  • General understanding of food safety program good practices (GAP’s, GMP’s, HACCP, etc.) preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a group setting.
  • Some travelling may be involved
  • Well organized and extremely attentive to details.
  • Math/computer experience.
  • Experience utilizing tools and equipment needed to complete various warehouse tasks.

Physical Demands:

  • Required to stand for long periods of time
  • May involve some repetitive motions
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds-More than 50 pounds requires a team lift.
  • May also engage in frequent bending, stooping, squatting, pushing and pulling of parts and part containers
  • Proper grooming standards
  • Proper clothing including steel toe boots with a good grip

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 1–2 years of produce inspection experience are preferred.
  • Experience and certification using materials handling equipment, specifically pallet jack/forklift, is required.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Inspect incoming and outgoing shipments for quality and condition.
  • Works with USDA Inspector.
  • Creates a quality inspection report for all inbound produce using Lotpath program.
  • Conducts regular product inspection in all coolers and refrigerated warehouse space to ensure quality and proper rotation of products.
  • Conducts random shipping audits for outbound product quality and condition.
  • Assists with inspecting Production packing quality of products.
  • All other duties as assigned and/or required.
