Job Description:
The right person for the job will be a recent college graduate or motivated professional looking for an opportunity with a global company that is a leader in the fresh produce industry. The Transportation Manager is responsible for the logistical coordination, tracking and proper documentation as per the needs of the Sales Team
.
Primary duties will include but are not limited to:
- Negotiate transportation rates or services
- Book, Track and maintain on time delivery of goods
- Vendor Management: Develop and Maintain relationships with outside carriers
- Ensure carrier compliance with company policies and procedures for product transit and delivery
- Understand customer needs and requirements to facilitate continual improvement and identify potential changes in requirements
- Keep abreast of government regulations and pending changes in policy
- Plan or implement improvements to internal or external logistic systems or processes
- Implement efficiencies to manage and maintain budget
- Collect, Organize and manage all vendor packets
- Meet regularly with the Sales Team and Sales Coordinators to plan for daily, weekly and monthly trucking needs
- Identify and reduce costs through coordination/communication with Vendors, Sales Team and Sales Coordinators
- Superior communication and problem solving skills to include developing recovery plans in the face of logistical issues
- Responsible for resolving issues arising with carrier claims, invoicing and collections
Qualifications:
- Experience in the food industry preferred
- Familiarity with government regulations, legal issues, safety protocols and procedures
- Strong decision making skills
- Excellent communication skills, oral and written.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy
- Ability to manage and direct Carriers and Drivers in a respectful but firm manner
- Demonstrate a team-oriented consensus-building approach to work
- Ability to prioritize, multitask and maintain flexibility in a fast-paced changing environment
- Knowledge of logistics, delivery processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective distribution of perishable items

- • Customs Compliance – Understand the management of national and international freight movements and the regulatory environment affecting these movements
