Growers Express is headquartered in Salinas Valley—it is known as the “salad bowl of the world”—which has a total year-round ground base that exceeds 40,000 acres. In order to continually offer our 40-plus commodities on a year-round basis, we’ve developed a growing model that migrates to different regions throughout the year, growing primarily in California, Arizona and Mexico.

Growers Express is seeking a Lettuce Harvesting Manager who develops and manages the growing and harvesting activities of Lettuce by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the harvest of Lettuce.
  • Determine when, where and how much lettuce will be harvested on any given day; continuously working with harvesters to ensure that the quality of the pack is up to the company's standards.
  • Generate 3 week estimates for sales to determine forecast, and track and account for skipped and/or lost acres.
  • Work with PCA’s to determine when to spray and what the target is.
  • Work with the growers to achieve company goals.
  • Work with seed companies to ensure we are using the best possible varieties available to the company.
  • Work with marketing to trial new materials when presented.
  • Work with vendors to ensure constant inventory in the applicable growing regions.
  • Work with management on planting schedules and or issues.
  • Manage outside deals, contracts and reconcile with accounting staff.
  • Manage transition from growing region to growing region; able to relocate and travel to Mexico and Yuma, AZ.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B. S.) or equivalent; or six to ten years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
