Logistics Coordinator/Freight Broker

Job Description: 

Maui Fresh International is a wholesale produce distributor operating in the LA Produce Market. The company transports an average of sixty (60) trucks per week from Nogales, Arizona and other locations in Arizona and California and is now looking to fill a Logistics Coordinator / Freight Broker position.

This individual will be responsible for securing return loads for the trucks returning from LA to Arizona.  The position could also source loads to Arizona and have the return loads already secured with Maui.

This position will have a base salary and commission structure that will be payable based on the number of return loads that are secured. Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Must be a self starter and motivated to source freight loads
  • Build relationships with dependable owner operators
  • Broker freight
  • Source return loads from LA to Arizona
  • Provide fast, courteous and quality customer service
  • Manage freight boards to help secure return loads
Skills: 
  • Working knowledge and understanding of freight  and logistics concepts
  • Advanced MS Office
  • Proven problem solving abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and follow through skills
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, multi-functional and multi-cultural environment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Able to sit or stand and walk throughout the scheduled work shift
  • Good vision and hearing for safety and communications purposes (In the warehouse environment there are forklifts and packaging machinery etc)
  • The employee is regularly required to work in an office and warehouse which can be cold due to refrigeration or hot depending on the season
  • The warehouse hours of operation are from 1am to 5pm daily so a flexible working time schedule will be required
  • Normal working day will start at 6am but a flexible schedule will be required to support the business as required
Qualifications: 
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years with professional experience within the freight industry required
  • Related degree preferred but not required based on experience
  • Language skills – English and Spanish
  • Experience in the produce business a plus
  • Experience with using freight boards a plus
