This is a Finance position responsible for monitoring the quality of perishable products in the warehouse on an ongoing basis. The successful candidate will regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in performing duties directly related to the general operation of produce quality control.

  • Product Quality assurance experience
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Checks produce in slots on a daily basis to make certain product that is set up for shipping is up to acceptable standards.
  • Communicates with buyers on all quality issues and assists in resolving them to ensure the customer receives the highest quality products possible.
  • Makes sure products are being rotated properly during daily slot checking, and communicates any problems with rotation to the stockers and/or supervisors responsible.
  • Monitors variance reports for accurate accounting of spoilage, warehouse damage, truck damage, etc.
  • Greets all internal and external customers in a friendly and efficient manner in order to ensure that proper customer service is maintained and customer satisfaction and organizational efficiency are enhanced.
  • Prepares proper documentation and initiates claims for all rejected product.  Follows up as necessary.
  • Inspects in-bound freight, warehoused product, and/or outbound product and documents product condition.
  • Communicates regularly with necessary parties on the company’s status on product quality.
  • Analyzes, identifies, and proposes action to the solution of problems associated with Quality Assurance.
  • Assists with administrative duties, when needed, and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Observes all safety rules, regulations, and sanitation policies.
  • Trains educational sessions for both customers and associates on proper quality and handling techniques.
  • Alerts operations management to any concerns regarding quality of products.

 

Education: 
  • High School diploma or equivalent
Skills: 
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Knowledge of SWMS or warehouse management system. 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office. 
  • Knowledge of produce quality requirements, storage temperatures, shelf life, etc.
