Job Description: 

A Produce Management Trainee candidate at Freshfields Farm must be a self motivated, high energy, goal oriented individual with an entrepreneurial spirit.  They will be responsible for providing an outstanding customer experience, ensuring safety/health protocols are followed, executing the building of dynamic product displays, maximizing sales/gross profits, protecting company assets, and maintaining store conditions according to protocol.   This is a physical position leading and working hand in hand with our front line employees.  Time spent on the sales floor or in a production area is 80-90%.

Responsibilities & Duties: 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The following personnel report to the Produce Manager in Training: Produce Stockers, Produce Wrap team members, Produce Leads, Produce Supervisors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following represents a portion of the Produce Manager in Training duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned, at the discretion of the company:

  • Held accountable in the following areas of responsibility: dynamic presentation of product, signage accuracy, maintaining freshness levels,  checklist completion, upholding safety/health standards, leading a team of stockers, and receiving and inspecting product while following company guidelines.
  • Ensure a safe work environment for our employees and a safe customer experience for our customers.
  • Ensure all safety and health protocols are being followed along with all applicable local/state/federal laws. 
  • Maximize sales/gross profit through improved product knowledge and attention to detail. 
  • Maintain team concept to improve associate morale, communication, and working conditions.
  • Assist with inventory
  • Maintain close communication with all appropriate support staff.
  • Maintain constant awareness of inventory on hand and movement of product.
  • Demonstrate and support a high level of integrity. Represent Freshfields Farm in a courteous and professional manner while interacting with all vendors, customers, and coworkers.
  • Partner with other leadership to train, develop, and hold team accountable through proper execution of all necessary corrective action.
  • Open and close the department as required.
  • Carry out the duties of other supervisors in their absence as required. 
  • Operate an electronic pallet jack in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Use ladders for various purposes throughout the building.
  • Reports to the Produce  Department manager
  • Receive and inspect product from delivery trucks and adhere to the company’s protocols and procedures to ensure quality standards for our customers.

LOCATION & CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The Produce Manager in Training hired for this position will ultimately work at Freshfields Farm in Orlando, FL.  The candidate hired for this position is subject to a 90 day probationary period.

Education: 
  • Associates Degree (A.A.) or Bachelor of Arts Degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; Relevant experience will be considered as well but is not required.  Restaurant experience may be helpful.

WORKLOAD & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • This is a full-time position with an average weekly workload of approximately 40 hours per week.  Saturdays and Sundays will regularly be a part of the five day work week, with occasional exceptions.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read and interpret general business reports, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Must have ability to write reports and business correspondences.
  • Must have ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, direct reports, and managers.

REASONING ABILITY & MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • The ability to relate to, and effectively interact with people on a personal level is requisite, as is the ability to identify and define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Candidates must be able to exercise logical mathematical reasoning as it relates to currency and scheduling.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • None required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The work environment will largely be indoors, where temperatures will regularly be near or below 65°F. Cooler areas will be 40°F and extensive time may be spent in those areas. 
  • There will be short intervals of outdoor work required (checking parking, cart availability, landscaping, etc.). 
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
