Employer Introduction

We have our USDA Organic Certification through ASCO – Agricultural Services Certified Organic and the Northern California Produce and Floral Council.

Good Dirt was started with the commitment to bring the highest quality organic fruits and vegetables to our family and friends. We expanded our vision to deliver the same high quality foods to you and our community.

We are a family run farm deeply connected with the land and its inhabitants. Our farm is located 6 miles South of Lake Shasta in Bella Vista, California. To the North is Mt. Shasta with Mt. Lassen to the East.

We are fortunate to be surrounded by two creeks: Dry Creek to West and Cow Creek to the East. This unique location provides us with an ideal, biodiverse growing climate. Inhabitants of the farm include wild turkeys, boar, deer, lady bugs, honey bees, rattlesnakes, and bald eagles to name only a few.

We are very grateful to be entrusted with this special piece of land and look forward to nurturing it for many years to come. Harmony with the land.

OUR FARM
Good Dirt Organic farm sits on 18 acres of pristine land. It is the realization of a family’s dream to reconnect with one another, the land and our community. We are committed to sustainable, organic farming practices for many reasons: to ensure the integrity of the soil, protect our water source, co-exist in harmony with the natural inhabitants and to grow the most delicious produce possible.

We grow many types of fruits and vegetables to enjoy. Having a wide variety of crops discourages pests and encourages beneficial wildlife. Additionally, we minimize our need for pest control by protecting wild areas, planting native flowering plants and installing bird houses thereby encouraging the natural predators of pests.

The crops are grown on a very special parcel of land that has been lovingly cared for, for hundreds, if not thousands of years. Over a thousand years ago, the area was known as the passageway to the Pacific Northwest for Native peoples of America. We have found many early Native American artifacts throughout the property. We keep these artifacts in our farm office to remind us that we are not here forever and must care for the land for the generations to follow.
