Job Description: 
Bengard Ranch Inc is currently seeking a Maintenance Shop Manager for our Salinas, CA operation. This individual will be a key member of the Growing leadership team and report directly to the Vice President of Growing Operations.
 
The position will be responsible for the daily Maintenance Shop operations with an emphasis on farming and harvesting equipment including functional design and layout of the shop to maximize efficiencies; establishing protocols for cost effective management of staff, inventories, and work processes; and ensuring the Company’s growing and harvesting operations are provided at all expected levels of equipment support and maintenance.
 
Description
Essential Duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Represents the Shop on the Growing Leadership team. As part of the team, actively participates in the development of the company’s strategic growing efforts. Serves as the Maintenance expert regarding equipment, facilities, and shop analytics.
  • Works with leadership in Harvesting to provide reliable and ongoing support for all field equipment.
  • Ensures Shop and corresponding work is compliant with all industry and Company safety standards.
  • Manages company fleet of vehicles ensuring compliance with all Federal, State, and Local regulations.
  • Manages employees to ensure consistent technical performance within established safety rules, procedures, and company policies.
  • Directs the Company’s continuous improvement maintenance program. Recommends tools and processes for process improvement as needed. Develops and implements preventive/maintenance programs to ensure proper equipment operation.
  • Has primary responsibility for maintenance management system(s) which may include design, installation, and process improvements, as well as day-to-day application.
  • Responsible for managing assigned staff performance and ensuring all individuals have received all training and/or certifications as required by the Company.
  • May be required to serve as subject matter expert/trainer on various repair and maintenance processes, systems, or protocols.
  • Responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all expected documents, records, and corresponding reports. Ensures all mandatory reports/documentation such as equipment maintenance recordkeeping, employee timekeeping, and Workers’ compensation comply with all Company and legal requirements.
Qualifications
  • BA in related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a complex comparable maintenance operation.
  • Strong background working with various farming equipment such as tractors, implements, harvesting equipment, semis and trailers, forklifts, etc.
  • Functional expertise with precision instruments, welding, power tools, hand tools, and the like.
  • Working knowledge of all related safety equipment and personnel practices as well as applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Demonstratable proficiency in general MSOffice programs (Word Excel Outlook) as well as computer database use including report generation for inventory data systems, and written communication.
  • Proficient in one or more maintenance management systems such as Management+ or Uptrip.
  • Able to meet the expectations associated with a 6 day/week growing operation during peak seasonal periods.
  • Bi-lingual preferred (Spanish/English).
Compensation/Salary: 
$90,000 to $130,000
