Job Description:

We are seeking a Grower Accountant to manage all product, materials, and service vendor relationships and business activity for timely and accurate transaction processing and grower reporting.  This role requires a keen understanding of fresh produce sales operations and related market pricing and expenses, as well as a first-hand appreciation for the positive impact that their job well done can have on grower and other vendor trust, as well as on the Company’s credit rating and industry reputation.   
Some of your responsibilities will include:

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Vendor, Product, & Location Record maintenance in transaction and accounting systems
  • Cost Accounting and system Cost Template maintenance for each supply deal
  • Manage transaction system to Supplier Agreement terms (margin, expenses, cash flow, reporting)
  • Lot File maintenance
  • Harvest & Pre-Season Advance tracking and recovery
  • Trade Commission Assessment & Rebate tracking and recovery
  • Problem Lot & Claims Resolution
  • Lot Cost & Profitability Analysis
  • Approve Lots for Advance, Pre-Final, and Final Liquidation payments
  • Grower Sales Reporting
  • Reconcile COGS activity between transaction and accounting systems
  • Vendor AP Invoice Reconciliation, Coding, and Entry into transaction and accounting systems
  • Ensure timely and accurate recovery of all expenses and sales credits incurred on Growers’ behalf
  • Reports to Senior Leadership Team
  • Interacts with Owners, Management, Growers, Customers, and Materials & Service Providers
  • Works in collaboration with Sales, Quality Assurance, Compliance, Operations, and AR/AP team members on daily internal business activity

  • Proficient in Accounting & Transaction Software (i.e. Quickbooks, Famous)
  • Working Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Working Knowledge of Cost Accounting Principles
  • Effective Written and Verbal Communication
  • English & Spanish Bi-Literacy Required
  • Agricultural, Fresh Produce, and/or Perishables Work Experience is Highly Preferred
  • Accounting & Administration Experience, 5+ years
  • AA or BA in Accounting, or related emphasis preferred.  Consideration given to combined education, experience, and track-record
