Job Description: 

Berry People is a year-round, full-line, branded shipper of predominantly organic berries and avocados with a national sales and global sourcing presence. The company’s partners and key outside growers own important farming assets in Mexico, and we have diversified and direct base of national and regional customers who are looking to grow with us.

We have a new opportunity for a qualified, talented, and motivated individual to join our accounting team. This role requires rigorous organization and attention to detail, the ability to work effectively with co-workers as well as grower and buyer clients in the timely and accurate “end to end” processing of product transactions, from the analysis and resolution of sales claims through to the review and finalization of grower accounting and lot sales reporting. The right candidate will “hold the line,” as to oversight, and even design of, the overall transaction accounting process, holding all parties accountable for timely and accurate transaction closures.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Resolution of Open Sales Credits
  • Short Pay Resolution
  • AR Aging and Customer Collections
  • Accounts Payable Invoice Reconciliation
  • Cost Accounting and Transaction Cost Template Management
  • Grower Accounting & Lot Sales Reporting
  • Purchase & Sales Order Trouble File Resolution
  • Inventory Control
  • Filing & Document Management (Physical & Virtual)
  • Data Entry and General Office Administration
  • Training and Management of Accounting Support Staff
  • Other accounting duties, as directed
Education: 
  • Agricultural, Fresh Produce, and/or Perishables Work Experience is Preferred
  • Accounting & Administration Experience, 10+ years
  • AA or BA in Accounting, or related emphasis preferred.  Consideration given to combined education, experience, and track record.
Skills: 
  • Advanced Excel, Access, and SQL Highly Preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Etc.)
  • Proficient in Accounting & Transaction Software (i.e. Quickbooks, Famous)
  • Working Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Product Cost Accounting & Product P&L Management
  • Effective Written and Verbal Communication
  • Mathematical Problem Solving
  • English & Spanish Bi-Literacy Required
