Job Description:
C. Kenneth Imports is a produce and grocery wholesale distribution company that specializes in tropical produce and specialty ethnic grocery. We have been in business for over forty years and we are rapidly growing, with an expansion and renovation and we are seeking to add to our team.
We are currently looking for an experienced Produce Receiver in the Hunts Point area of the Bronx, NY.
As the Produce Receiver, you are responsible for receiving fresh fruits and vegetables. All receiving and processing activities including inbound and return and damage processing are under your direction.

Requirements:
- 1 to 3 years of experience dealing directly with fresh produce.
- Basic math skills – addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
- Experience and knowledge with USDA grades and standards are needed and you will be encouraged and supported to expand your training and education in this area on an ongoing basis including the USDA Produce Inspection Training Program Certification.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle stressful situation, maintain a calm and professional demeanor.
- Able to safely operate warehouse equipment, such as a pallet jack or forklift.
- High attention to detail and ability to focus for extended periods of time.
- Be self-driven and able to work independently and timely with meeting work commitments.
Physical Requirements
- Lift/Carry abilities 10-50 lbs, Stand/walk – constantly.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Inspect in-bound produce items.
- Ability to use USDA and CKI specifications to grade for quality, condition and count.
- Ability to read and write clearly and identify detailed language describing product in English. Bilingual in Spanish or Korean is preferred.
- Communicate with buyers all quality issues and assists them in resolving them.
- Validate product temperature based on commodity requirements.
- Ability to assess shelf life based on condition on inbound product and advise on quality of purchases and determine if product should be received or rejected.
- Ensure compliance with all Standard Operating Procedure pertaining to receiving, inspection, storage and handling.
- Maintain/clean receiving equipment (inspection cart, thermometers, knifes, scales, etc.).
