Job Description: 
We are actively searching for experienced personnel to join our Coast Team in a “buy/sell” (buyer and salesman) role. The candidate must fit into the Coast Produce culture and complement our core principals. Existing book of business for sales and/or established grower/shipper relationships are preferred as we look to grow our customer base, geographical reach, and enhance existing product line both in product and grower base. Looking for a candidate that takes initiative, displays an innovative thought process towards business development, a detailed approach to business, and an effective communicator. 
 
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Develop and maintain strong relations with growers and shippers throughout the United States and other import areas
  • Develop category programs that maximize net revenue opportunities while growing customer penetration and grower/vendor support
  • Support business development activity with existing customers as well as penetration of new customer development
  • Develop category target plans for top accounts with Account Managers/Category Managers for greater penetration
  • Own daily, promotional, and contract pricing decisions.
  • Support and help drive the companies branded sales programs
  • Focus on innovation within the retail industry and provide solutions to help drive retail sales programs.
  • Work with Category Managers to help develop supply chains to grow sales while providing profitable returns to grower vendor network
  • Communicate local and regional programs for additional sales opportunities
  • Consistently provide education to all internal sales and account managers throughout the company.
  • Be a positive role model for Coast Produce Co. within the retail and produce industry 
Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration preferred but not required
  • Minimum 3+ years fresh produce experience preferred (in buying and selling roles) with experience in retail buying preferred
  • 3+ years category management experience at the retail level preferred
  • Strategic and creative thinking skills as well as Strong analytical and problem solving skills required.
  • Excellent customer & supplier service communication skills
  • High degree of knowledge of the grower & shipper within the produce industry
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong team player
  • Travel will be required up to 10%
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills – Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and Outlook
