Job Description: 

We are a grower/shipper/packer of conventional and organic produce in California. We provide consistent year-round supply, quality and food safety. We are searching for an exceptionally creative and strategic leader. In fact, we are seeking is someone who is looking to have a “seat at the table.” This is not your run-of-the-mill Director of Sales role. You’ll be driving business development, while leading and growing the sales team. You’ll also be working on strategy, brand development, product and packaging innovation. And then of course the less exciting stuff, like planning and P&L management. You will report to the President and will lead a team of account and marketing managers.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Lead the Sales Team
  • Establish and execute the sales plan, budgets and marketing strategy, utilizing a thorough understanding of market opportunities, company operational capabilities, industry trends and the overall strategic plan of the company
  • Proactively achieve sales and profit goals by evaluating and responding to the changing needs of customers
  • Increase sales through effective business development and strong relationships with new and existing customers
  • Closely monitor the market and competition and changes in the market (i.e. competitive pricing, new products, etc.)
  • Develop programs tailored to the customer that will be successful for both parties – customer and our company
  • Lead new product & program launches
  • Develop sales presentations, marketing materials and category plans
  • Provide the highest level of integrity and promote a positive company image inside and outside the organization
  • Travel as needed for trade shows, events and customer/business development
Qualifications: 
  • 10+ years of sales and leadership experience in the produce industry
  • Experience selling and marketing value-added produce products
  • Strong knowledge of and experience selling into retail customers
  • Highly knowledgeable about the latest consumer trends in produce and food
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with ability to make sound decisions and solve problems in a confident, decisive manner
  • Knowledge of branding and the ability to translate the corporate story into the value proposition of each targeted consumer group
  • Must be able to work primarily in Bakersfield, CA and travel as needed
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
