Job Description: 
This is a unique and impactful role to lead the growth and next generation design for our national fresh produce sourcing and demand planning operations. This role works in collaboration with the network and our 8 regional produce offices, grower/shipper donors, internal and external peers. The scope includes but is not limited to the order to invoice process, produce donor services and scaling our services to hit our 2025 strategic produce objectives. You will be on the front line of fresh produce recovery and helping be a solution for our grower/shipper donors as well as our food bank members – ensuring we can improve our supply/demand matching and optimize costs.
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Responsible for all operational processes and execution as it pertains to our national sourcing, demand planning, billing or other administration; will look to improve overall service and adoption of FANO tools/processes; will recommend and implement new ideas.
  • Manages a remote team of (2) sourcing and (5) fulfillment experts to execute on the Feeding America National Produce Program.  Responsible for weekly and monthly progress of goals for pounds, costs, and other relevant data points.
  • Also monitors our food bank sourcing progress through quarterly reporting and analyzes fluctuations in total produce pounds by stream.
  • Ensures team can provide high level service and has the tools to resolve donor and member operational issues that may arise with orders; also looks to simplify and automate activities to focus on value-added and strategic efforts.
  • Drives process improvement, simplification and adoption of Produce Matchmaker, NetSuite, and will be contributing to the evaluation of future technologies. 
  • Works closely with transportation team to understand impact of freight costs on overall sourcing execution and output; supports freight strategy development to synchronize supply with demand. 
  • Supports regional engagement managers to align local, state or regional sourcing strategies as it pertains to supply and demand, by region and by commodity.
  • Drive key program initiatives to achieve core Key Performance Indicators of pounds and cost per pound.
  • Expected travel is 15%-35%.
Requirements: 
  • 10+ years direct management experience; developing direct reports and setting goals in alignment with company strategy.
  • 10+ years in customer service and/or process improvement with an emphasis on scaling new ideas and leading change.
  • 5+ years produce category management/procurement management preferred or a strong aptitude to learn the industry.
  • Adept at change management and working with multiple levels of stakeholders to build consensus and manage risk.
  • Managerial courage– promoting collaboration but not afraid to make the tough calls.
  • Demonstrates excellence and quality in all aspects of work deliverables. 
  • Understands how to summarize results to drive insights; Medium to Advanced Excel required.
  • Food bank or food pantry experience a plus.
  • Committed to the mission of produce rescue and our organizational mission of ending hunger.
Education: 
  • BA/BS in related field or equivalent experience. MA preferred.
