General Produce Company was founded in 1933 by Chan Tai Oy, who emigrated from Canton, China to California in 1905. He started General Produce Company with his three sons, Eddie, Dan, Tom and nephew, Davis Sun. Chan initially operated Tong Sun Company, selling produce and fish from 1906 until 1933. Chan Tai Oy passed away in 1971 at the age of 85, passing the torch to his sons, Eddie, Dan, and Tom and nephew, Davis Sun.
Today: Cousins Tom Chan and Dan Chan are the third generation continuing the family tradition of excellence that began over 80 years ago. We now have an outstanding opportunity for an Outside Retail Sales Representative to join our crew in Sacramento, CA.
The Outside Retail Sales Representative provides extraordinary customer service to assigned accounts with primary focus on providing in-person service to customers, developing new business, building and maintaining customer relationships and maintaining and increasing sales of a given account base.
The successful candidate will have:
- Excellent sales and customer service skills.
- Effective written and oral communications skills with the ability to motivate and influence others either verbally or in writing.
- Ability to analyze and understand data.
- Proficient in Windows-based computer applications.
- Maintain a valid California Driver License with one point or less on DMV record.
We’re also looking for someone with two to three years of college with coursework in marketing, sales, and business. In the absence of formal education, significant and progressively responsible sales work experience may be substituted. Position requires two to three year’s retail or wholesale produce industry sales experience with a minimum of two years of merchandising experience at the retail level.
