Join our dynamic Sales team as a Sales Associate and play a crucial role in building and nurturing client relationships. The Sales Associate is responsible for promoting and cross-selling our range of products, with a particular emphasis on asparagus and herbs. We are seeking an individual with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the produce industry, exceptional attention to detail, and a proven track record of sales success. Essential Functions:

  • Proactively develop and maintain a loyal client base through effective communication and relationship-building.
  • Schedule sales calls for both new and existing clients to identify and seize new sales opportunities within established accounts.
  • Manage and resolve conflicts with clients, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills.
  • Support, promote, and manage all company programs and contracts for assigned customers.
  • Collaborate closely with the sales team and other staff members to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  • Meet tight deadlines for assigned accounts, thriving in a fast-paced environment.
  • Review and analyze weekly reports, following up as necessary and in a timely manner.
  • Stay informed about market conditions, trends, and pricing to make informed sales decisions.
  • Conduct proactive customer "good will" calls and ensure excellent follow-up.
  • Anticipate customer needs and track customer spend on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Meet or exceed quarterly and annual sales and retention goals.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop business cases, presentations, and proposals.
  • Demonstrate positive company positioning.
  • Travel periodically, as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of previous experience as a Sales Associate in the produce industry.
  • Proficiency in English; bilingual skills preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, follow-up, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent computer skills and social media savvy, with knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Famous, etc.
  • Understanding of market conditions, trends, and pricing.
  • Some experience in A/R Management is a plus.
  • Sense of urgency applicable to perishable products.
  • Highly organized, efficient, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills (verbal and written), interpersonal skills, and proper phone etiquette.
  • Consistent professionalism and good judgment.
  • Proven track record of established sales, cold calls, and/or account management success.
  • Diverse produce industry knowledge and the ability to apply appropriate produce trading practices.

Physical Demands:

The employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. Frequently, the employee must stand and walk. The ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds is necessary. Specific vision abilities required for this role include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.   • The work environment is usually fast-paced with frequent short deadlines, requiring a high level of adaptability and flexibility.
  • The field of work includes offices and, in some instances, the warehouse and surrounding grounds.
  • Limited hazards may arise due to visits to the warehouse and surrounding areas.
