Founded in 2015, Iron Ox has become one of the more prominent names in the world of agricultural robotics.  In 2018, the company announced its first indoor farm at the headquarters in San Carlos, California, growing a  slew of leafy green vegetables hydroponically. Their third facility in Lockhart, Texas will be opening later this  year bringing total combined greenhouse production space to over 500,000 square feet.

At a critical point in their growth trajectory, Iron Ox is looking for a Retail Sales Manager to grow their retail  sales relationships developing new business with retail customers in the Texas area and beyond. This position is  a newly created role reporting into the Head of Sales and Business Development working closely with all cross  functional teams to understand existing and new products as well as the product development pipeline to  support sales growth. This is a remote position that may require frequent travel to meet with new and existing  customers as well as the Iron Ox teams in San Carlos and greenhouse production locations in Gilroy, California  and Lockhart, Texas.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Develop and manage new retail accounts in the Texas region and beyond 
  • Support growth, strategy, and direction of a growing sales team 
  • Develop and implement long term strategic programs for new and existing retail customers
  • Attend trade shows, networking events and offsites 
  • Increase revenue with existing accounts and pursue new business development opportunities
  • Weigh opportunities from all perspectives (New Products, Revenue, Strategy, Growth, and Margin)
  • Align work and resources to ensure success 
  • Gain deep understanding of quarterly production schedules, while increasing customer commitments
  • Understand and report growing customer trends and opportunities in the region
  • Communication and organization of various forms including video conferencing, presentations and  written communications
Qualifications: 
  • 7 + years of retail sales and business development experience in produce 
  • A passion for food and produce in particular 
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously • Understanding of indoor agriculture and/or controlled environment agriculture (CEA) at scale
  • ERP & CRM experience 
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills 
  • Experience with CPG or value added sales 
  • Sense of urgency mentality and ability to escalate issues quickly 
  • Entrepreneurial spirit but also grounded in the immediate, practical, get-stuff-done mindset of a start up 
  • Strategic mindset, excellent problem solving, and high degree of resourcefulness
