Job Description:
M. Levin and Company, Inc. is a full-line wholesale produce distribution company based out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1906, we are family owned and operated and have been since inception. The Company is currently being managed by its third and fourth generation of family members. We are best known as one of the largest banana ripeners and distributors on the East Coast. We are also well-known for our extensive line of tropical items, carrying one of the largest selections in the tri-state area. Aside from bananas and tropical items, M. Levin carries a full-line of fresh fruits and vegetables that boast the variety and quality that M. Levin has built its foundation upon. M. Levin operates six units inside the Philadelphia Wholesale Produce Market.
We are seeking an individual with experience in and knowledge of the banana industry. The ideal candidate would have an understanding of the banana market, sales experience (retail, foodservice and wholesale), along with business development and management skills to join our team. Knowledge of the banana ripening process is a plus!
Within our 116-year-old company we have many produce professionals who have over 100s of years of combined experience in the produce world. M. Levin is a well-respected company within the industry, and is looking to grow and expand our banana ripening program.
Our banana program has deep ties to the Philadelphia region. In 1906 our founder, the late Michael Levin, began bringing in bananas by ship to ripen and distribute along the cobblestoned streets of Philadelphia by horse-drawn wagon. M. Levin was the first to bring bananas into the region and has gone from ripening in underground cellars to state-of-the-art banana rooms. We have grown in leaps and bounds since our inception and are looking to further our growth.
While we are family-owned and operated we believe that all of our employees are an extension of our family and we take pride in having our employees with us for multiple decades. The individual we have in mind for this position would be someone who has the ability to personally engage with our current customer base, work alongside our management and sales team, has some knowledge of the banana industry, as well as possesses the skill set necessary to help bring in new customers.
