Job Description: 

The Northwest Cherry Growers and Washington State Fruit Commission are seeking to obtain a professional public relations, advertising and merchandising presence in the Canadian market for Northwest sweet cherries and Washington stone fruits (peaches, nectarines and apricots).

In short, we are looking for someone awesome to lead our Canadian marketing efforts. You’ll play a huge role within our promotions team, traveling across Canada to share our category research and promotional programs with produce retailers. Though the position is all-encompassing within the territory, it is largely focused on merchandising/promotional activities within the produce retail channel. Strong experience in this area is preferred. Contractor(s) must be based in Canada.

The chosen applicant(s) will be:
  • Responsible for overall cherry communication to retail accounts
  • Proposing and managing overall merchandising-based promotions.
  • Setting and managing category development priorities.
  • Collaborations with like-minded brands and influencers.
  • A strong email communicator
Season-focused sub-contractors are compensated with a daily rate plus expenses and a percentage of qualifying promotions executed in-season. Multiple applicants may be selected based on geographical representation.
Evaluation measurements will include retail and merchandising background, organizational experience, creativity, previous work, project team structure, qualifications/reliability, technical expertise and experience, overall proposal suitability, value and cost.
