JOB FILLED - Operations Manager

Job Description: 

Reporting directly to the General Manager in Fowler, CA, the Operations Manager is responsible for the overall performance of the depot, including inventory control, process improvements, safety and employee management.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Improve performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability through management reporting, project management and the optimization of employee schedules and equipment utilization.
  • Oversee inventory by monitoring daily inventory schedules and investigating discrepancies.
  • Determine hiring needs and manage the hiring and termination of yard employees as well as taking disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Handles the shipping requirements of the company, developing and maintaining relationships with Brokers and Carriers.
  • Responsible for the purchasing of equipment and supplies used in the yard, making sure supplies are kept at optimum levels, and costs are tracked and recorded.
  • Tracks cost of inventory and supplies
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by developing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with Federal and State regulations.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures to be used at all Depots.
  • Implement safety policies, procedures, and training programs for all depots.
  • Overnight travel - Yes 15%
Qualifications: 
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills, with the ability to manage for results.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage employee conflict and successful resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and develop team members.
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong ability to multi-task; strong time management skills.
  • Ability to proactively plan and organize work to accomplish goals.
  • Knowledge and experience using various computer systems, to include Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • 5 years of supervision preferred.
  • Production Ag experience a plus.
  • Food Safety experience a plus.
