Job Description: 

The Production Manager’s responsibility is to direct and manage production, operations, and administration of our cooler and packing facility located in Yuma, AZ. Must have good analytical, technical, organization and people skills.

This is a Full-time seasonal job. Benefits are offered upon hire.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Oversee and manage cooler and  packing facility personnel on multiple shifts including supervisors, foremen, sanitation crew, prep crew, and  forklift drivers.
  • Leading operatives on a moderate to high-speed production line.
  • Ensuring all melons are cleared for size and quality and is packed to the correct standards.
  • Ensuring all production checks are completed accurately and on time. Ensure that all products are appropriately and accurately labelled, according to customer and company specifications.
  • Analyze production statistics to include the variety, sizes and completed orders in order to determine the efficiency of the machinery as well as personnel. Must make production modifications in a timely manner to minimize delays.
  • Track the incoming and outgoing supply of totes.
  • Operation of Line Equipment.
  • Work with the Foreman to optimize yields, minimizing waste.
  • Maintaining full traceability of products through the packing and dispatch process.
  • Manage the inventory of cartons. Have knowledge of the carton selection and know when to appropriately use the correct carton according to melon variety.
  • Working safely and follow company policies.
  • Overseeing the Foreman and Food Safety personnel in the training of packing operatives.
  • Ensuring work areas and equipment are cleaned as set out in the cleaning schedule and SOP’s.
  • Accurately completing any associated administration.

Requirements: 
  • Ability to be a supporting and flexible team member.
  • Be diligent in following instructions.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Must be able to work at a fast pace without compromising quality or safety.
  • Have full knowledge of food safety practices, traceability and safety and how to achieve the required standards.
  • Understand and apply safe working practices.
  • Must be Bilingual (Spanish, English).
  • Ability to read, write and speak good English, including numerical information.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Must be willing to work long hours and weekends.
  • Must be willing to work in Firebaugh, CA for 2-3 months.
Education: 
  • High school diploma, supplemented by some college course work in agriculture preferred.
  • Experience in supervisory of coolers and/or packing lines staff,
  • Experience in food processing or agriculture,
  • Mechanical and electrical experience preferred but not required,
