THE ROLE:
The Financial Controller will undertake all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, and analysis, as well as development and oversight of internal control policies and procedures. This includes overseeing and performing the month-end Consolidated Financial close to include: journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, analysis, intercompany reconciliation and reporting. In addition, this key member of the team will work closely with leadership to identify opportunities and develop strategies, understand internal business operations, and make decisions on process development and implementation to increase efficiencies and create cost savings.
Requires thorough knowledge of GAAP, advanced proficiency with Excel and knowledge of accounting systems (Famous highly desired). In addition the ideal candidate will have the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment and possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Agriculture industry experience and Bilingual in Spanish a plus
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Financial Accounting: Manage financial accounting processes and reporting, including monthly, quarterly and annual close, to ensure proper recognition of revenue, costs, assets and liabilities in accordance with US GAAP and local regulatory requirements. Consistently enhance controls and business solutions designed to mitigate financial risk.

- Monthly Financial statement reporting and analysis
- Budget vs. Actual & Forecasts
Continuous Process Improvement: Development of processes to improve business efficiencies and improvement of existing processes.
- Creating SOPs to document and provide guidance for new processes and improvement of existing processes.
- Evaluate and develop purchasing/tracking program for seed, packaging, pallets, other harvest/packing supplies, etc.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Manage the Annual budget and strategic planning process and monthly financial statement projections, including budget vs. actual reports and make appropriate recommendations to management. Includes the preparation of appropriate analysis to support the development of financial guidelines as well as the development and implementation of financial planning schedules and procedures at all levels of the Company.
Management reporting: Manage and develop financial models and tools to measure and facilitate decision making, including weekly financial dashboard, monthly performance metrics and weekly/monthly revenue and expense analysis and commentary.

Data Driven Analysis: Support management team with data-driven analysis. Ad-hoc business performance reporting and metrics:
- Yield report (daily, weekly, monthly & annually)
- Crew/contract Harvest labor efficiency
- Pricing Models
- Commodity trends (rolling 52-week, rolling 12-month, etc.)
- Plant financial analysis including insightful commentaries detailing issues, opportunities, and action plans.
Capital Expenditures:
- Manage and Track Capital expenditures, including actual versus budget,
- Capital Expenditure Request approval and spending against estimates.
Risk Management:
- Develop and implement Crisis management plan and training in collaboration with Food Safety and Human resources, including facilitation of emergency response, business continuity, IT disaster recovery and product recall.
- Insurance renewals and administration
Manage employees:
- Supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and performance management.
- Maintain and promote positive employee relations in work environment.
Other Ad-hoc analysis and reporting as required
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance and at least 7 years’ experience in accounting, financial analysis, reporting, budgeting/forecasting, and/or public accounting.
- Expert in financial reporting and analysis including balance sheets, profit and loss, return on asset and investment, metrics and measurements, etc.
- Advanced Proficiency in Excel, Famous or similar systems, report writing and business intelligence tools.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced unstructured environment.
- Must be able to maintain a valid CA Driver’s License with the ability to be insured under company sponsored liability coverage. Some travel may be required.
- Experience in farming, agriculture and/or fresh produce highly desired
- Bilingual in Spanish a plus
