POSITION SUMMARY 
The Ag Operations Finance Manager is accountable for the ongoing analysis of process constraints, target costing projects, margin analysis, and tracing costs back to underlying activities. The cost analyst will be responsible for preparing statements and reports, overseeing audit files, attending meetings to provide financial feedback, and training employees in cost management methods. 
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 
  • The position works closely with Payroll, Inventory, Production and Accounting. The position is responsible for: 
  • Reviewing, monitoring and assisting with the planting schedule for direct seed and transplant activities.
  • Overseeing transactions related to labor, chemicals, fertilizers, packaging material, diesel, irrigation material, seeds and plants. 
  • Analyzing costs of labor, raw materials and freight to ensure accurately reported. 
  • Reporting of job activity as it relates to growing, harvesting and cooling as well as transportation costs by area and job. 
  • Production report for management such as Yield, Units/Man Hours, Volumes 
  • Update Customer Demand forecast and submit reports. 
  • Preparing monthly journal entries. 
  • Preparing monthly and season to date reports by area and job for submission to management. 
  • Regularly participate in meetings with management to assess and address issues and implement improvements. 
  • Help develop new labor and overhead rates for budget and forecast business plan models.
  • Monitoring sales to customers to ensure pricing accurately. 
  • Preparing customer proposals/budgets as we prepare for the next season. 
  • Reviewing costs against proposals to verify in line with expectations. 
  • Support all accounting functions within the department.
EXPERIENCE & ABILITIES/SKILLS 
  • A minimum of 4 years’ worth of experience in a position with extensive job costing a must.
  • Prior agricultural experience is a plus. 
  • Bachelor’s degree or additional 4 years equivalent work experience. 
  • Advanced analytical skills with experience collecting, organizing, analyzing, and disseminating abundant amounts of information with accuracy
  • Computer Skills: Excellent excel/google skills, electronic mail. Famous software is a plus.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS 
Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure. Proficiency in the English language, verbal and written, ability to communicate with team members and inter company personnel in English and Spanish.
