Job Description: 

Shenandoah, Growers Inc. (SGI) is seeking an experienced Buyer in our Rice, Texas location with proven ability for the timely and accurate ordering of fresh herbs and packaging materials to ensure that all orders can be filled every day. Duties of this position include price and yield analysis for fresh herbs, choosing vendors with best prices, and best quality.  Additional duties include assisting Vice President, Supply Chain, with special projects. This position reports to the Vice President, Supply Chain.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Review forecasts and develop daily procurement plan
  • Perform purchasing daily for multiple SGI facilities
  • Ensure product receiving rating standards are met
  • Inventory control of raw materials and packaging supplies for assigned facilities
  • Assist as requested with supplier’s food safety programs and certification
  • Physically review inventory daily
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements: 
  • College degree in business or related field preferred but not required
  • 1-3 Years of purchasing/procurement experience required
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Demonstrates a professional demeanor
  • Outstanding negotiation skills
  • Advanced experience with MS Excel
  • Ability to learn functions in various departments
  • Excellent team player with the ability to work well with little supervision
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • General math, verbal, and computer skills
  • Experience in inventory control
  • Fluent in English; bi-lingual in English/Spanish preferred
