Job Description: 

Sun Pacific began in 1969 with the purchase of 72 acres of oranges in Exeter, California. Today Sun Pacific owns more than 40,000 acres in California and ships 35 million boxes of fresh fruit annually. As the acreage has grown, so has our expertise and attention to detail in farming and packing the highest quality product. Job Summary: The vice president of operations will oversee and support strategies, goals, objectives, capital projects, communication, and fruit packing technology to ensure profitability and sustainability of all packing operations within Sun Pacific Shippers, LP.

Reporting Relationship: The vice president of operations will report directly to the president.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Organizational leader who uses their experience and education to make decisions to ensure profitability and sustainability of the Company;
  • Devising strategies and policies to ensure the Company meets its goals and objectives;
  • Overseeing capital projects, ensuring timely completion at or below budget;
  • Coordinating harvest, logistics, packing, storage, and distribution for multiple commodities grown on 50,000+ acres processed through eight packing facilities to maximize return to the Company and outside growers;
  • Implementing strategic change to increase quality and productivity;
  • Leveraging technology to enhance performance of business;
  • Using data to make informed business decisions;
  • Communicating effectively to all department managers;
  • Ensure compliance with USDA, FDA, DOT and OSHA regulations;
  • Lead and maintain a professional relationship with business partners, management and administrative representatives, employees, and all key third-party representatives for continued success; and,
  • Performing all other duties, assignments, and projects, as assigned by the Company.

Qualifications: 
  • 15+ years operations/finance experience;
  • 5+ years of experience in produce with focus on packing and/or logistics;
  • Bachelor’s degree in an agricultural field of study, or equivalent work experience; and,
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record insurable by the Company’s insurance policy.
