We have a great opportunity for an Applied Research Agronomist to join our team in Wasco, CA.

The Research Agronomist’s job is to search, trial and develop protocols to improve the performance of our company’s proprietary varieties at commercial & test farms. Perform regular visits to designated commercial farms where our company’s proprietary varieties are grown under license; identify technical challenges and suggest trials to solve problems. Conduct field trials aimed at creating new knowledge needed to overcome technical challenges that limit yield and/or fruit quality of our company’s proprietary varieties. Evaluate the adaptability of our company’s new proprietary varieties to existing and new production regions in California and, together with the company’s agronomy team, assist in developing guidelines for best cultural practices for these varieties. 

Requires deep knowledge of the Vitis world, anatomy of the grapevine, plant nutrition, soil characteristics, rootstocks, irrigation systems and other agronomic subjects. M.Sc./B.Sc. in agronomy with specialization in viticulture or previous experience in a similar role, such as a farm advisor, technical/research agronomist or assistant, or practical experience on a grape farm is preferred.  A comprehensive benefits package is offered with salary commensurate with experience and achievement.
