Kershaw Fruit and Cold Storage is one part of a fifth generation family owned vertically integrated group of companies that grow, harvest, store, pack, ship and transport fresh tree fruits to retailers, wholesalers and food service customers all over the world. We are looking to fill the role of Production Operation Manager.

Job Description:
Production Operation Manager provides overall direction, guidance and supervision to the operational personnel throughout the execution of all apple receiving and packing functions.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Responsible for the supervision of personnel and operational activities.
  • Responsible for employee performance and disciplinary protocol.
  • Ability to direct and delegate work to facility personnel.
  • Communicate daily with Sales and Upper Management on packing production, managing labor costs.
  • Works with Human Resources to hire and maintain adequate department staffing.
  • Works with Maintenance Manager to ensure all facility equipment are properly maintained and equipment programs are scheduled regularly.
  • Works with Food Safety Manager to ensure proper housekeeping and sanitation of facility as well as maintain food safety program.
  • Monitor and recommend improvements in processes to increase facility/production efficiency.
  • Ensure that quality product is being produced, graded, packaged, and palletized according to Companies standards and specifications.
  • Ensure all employees, machine and vehicle operators are trained.
  • Encourage and support a work culture of continuous improvement and employee safety.
  • Oversee shook inventory management.
  • Follow ethical and business-like manner in all interaction with employees, drivers, growers, customers, and contractors.
  • Micro management of packing instruction implementation and changes.
  • Achieve to surpass daily, monthly and annual production targets and goals.
  • Managing varietal and lot changes with production team.
  • Proficient in CompuTech inventory management system and Redline Warehouse Inventory Management System.
  • Operation of control line PLC, Compac Sizer delivery program software, Compac Spectrim color and defect sorting software and Compac Internal Quality Sorting platform.
  • Management of processor production, tag creation, inventory and shipments.
  • Exemplify excellent Food Safety & Sanitation Standards and Guidelines.
  • Management & execution of nightly pack out(s), daily execution of pack out distribution and delivery to Accounting.• Management of all Computech production related items, including daily run inputs, end of shift reconciliation(s) and pallet tag integrity.
  • Other duties, will be assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred to communicate with majority Spanish speaking workforce.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in produce packing.
  • Ability to work extended hours; work nights, weekends or as business needs arise during harvesting season.
  • Ability to work well in a team-based environment-Familiar with SIMS stamper program / platform.
  • Show professionalism at all times amongst production team, QA, growers, and customers.
  • Proficiently understand wet area operations including flow control, flume chemistry and waxing.
  • Ability to critically and analytically think is necessary.
  • Ability to over communicate and multi task is a must.
  • Must have general understanding of basic mechanics of a packing line.
  • Must be open to continued education and training in management, leadership and safety.
  • Must have skill set for any kind of project coordination and/or install.
  • Must have conflict resolution experience and skills to assist HR when employee concerns and issue are presented.
  • Must have exceptional knowledge and experience in organic and conventional corrugate, poly, pouch and mesh packaging specifications.
  • Must have exceptional knowledge on rules and regulations of packing conventional vs. organic apples.
  • Ability to produce results in a fast-paced environment.
