Summary of Responsibilities:
Comprehensive project/process design, layout, implementation, equipment specification and install oversight responsibility from conception to start-up for the largest value-added fresh vegetable and prepared food processor in the world.
Design, develop and implement food production processes that increase quality, efficiency, production throughput and sustainability.
Additional responsibilities include, but not limited to: support plant expansion projects, vendor management, automation utilization/project development, resource efficiency and sustainability projects, waste reduction, capital budgeting, regulatory compliance and audit preparedness, supervision of equipment purchases and preventative maintenance.
Be a constant source of technical expertise and a facilitator of operational effectiveness and cost improvement.
Essential Functions:
- Proven process, electrical or mechanical engineering work experience in a fast-paced, multi-project environment
- Must be a curious, hard-working, self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit
- Must be an analytical and critical thinker who can communicate effectively verbally and in writing to key managers
- Expert level proficiency in design engineering and process layouts utilizing ACAD
- Knowledge of capital project development and cost estimation
- Provide strategic, operational cost saving solutions
- Knowledge of new, environmentally sustainable technologies
- Manage and ensure timely completion of plant improvement projects and installations
- Professional manager and developer of critical vendor partners
- Ensure facility and production process compliance with local, state and federal regulations including sanitary equipment design guidelines for food plants
- Provide day-to-day leadership to mechanics and technician crews on plant improvement projects and equipment
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve efficiently with minimal oversight
Requirements:
- 5+ years-experience in food plant process design and engineering
- High Proficiency in ACAD, Microsoft Word and Excel
- Superior multi-tasker who can handle multiple projects at once
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
- Some domestic and international travel required
