We are looking for a hands-on manager to lead our Maintenance Department in Fort Myers, FL.

As the Packing House Maintenance Manager, you must be a highly motivated, and organized individual with mechanical, technical, and electrical background. This position involves the maintenance of different packing and sorting equipment, including advanced optical sizers and graders, weighing machines for bagging operations and many types of bagging/packing machines. Experience in the agricultural food packing/processing industry is preferred.

The successful candidate will maintain the potatoes packing lines and facilities to maximize packing operations and efficiency. Candidate will be conducting machine setup, reconfiguration, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance services. Also responsible for auditing condition of the equipment and facility and ensure that repairs are performed to keep the product flowing and in compliance with food safety (GAP) and quality control specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production.
  • Maintain production equipment through regularly scheduled services.
  • Prepare and set up machinery for scheduled production runs, including but not limited to: Optical and Laser Sorters, Ozone Generators, Bagging/Packing Machines, Scales, etc.
  • Mechanical installation and repairs.
  • Electrical troubleshooting.
  • Pneumatic and hydraulic repair.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals required for maintenance and service of machines.
  • File daily paperwork required by Good Manufacturing Program.
  • Coordinate parts ordering and manage spare parts inventory.
  • Make safety a priority. Comply with all GMP policies and OSHA Safety and Health rules.
  • Assist Production Personnel as required to maintain Good Manufacturing Processes and a high-quality food safety program.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Requirements/Preferences

  • Bachelor’s degree in the related field, technical school education and/or 5 to 10 years manufacturing experience with a minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in maintenance and repairs of a fresh produce packing facility, and production machinery.
  • Must have good electrical understanding, troubleshooting skills and exposure to high-speed equipment.
  • Must have general knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic working systems.
  • Must have fabrication and welding experience in stainless steel and mild steel.
  • Willingness to work long hours when necessary and respond immediately. Able to work weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be reliable and punctual.
  • Must be self-motivated, have a sense of urgency, be process driven and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must have the ability to work well under pressure, be flexible and meet Company goals and deadlines.
  • Ability to read, analyze and understand technical documents and drawings.
  • Must have excellent organizations and project management skills and be detail oriented.
  • Work in close association with production, quality control and warehouse teams through effective communication in an effort to resolve all issues and achieve company goals.
  • Must have written and verbal interpersonal skills to communicate and work with team-members, management, and external suppliers.
  • Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions.
  • Ability to define problems by collecting data and establishing facts to draw valid conclusions.
  • Must be available for training and willing to train others.
  • Must be able to maintain and abide by confidentiality.
  • Must have good work ethic and promote a positive company image.
  • Must have good computer skills and experienced user of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Valid driver’s license.

Starting wage based on previous experience.
