JOB FILLED - Night Shipping Manager

Job Description: 

Watsonville Produce, Inc. has been family owned and managed since 1984. We are the "Fresh" Leafy Greens processor/packer for the Muzzi Family Farm's group of fresh and frozen processing and sales companies. We are looking for a Night Shipping Manager who will oversee all nightly shipping activities at our facility in Yuma, AZ.

The Night Shipping Manager will work with our Shipping Manager and Facility Manager to oversee the implementation of the policies, procedures, work schedules and trainings in our Shipping Dept. This candidate will be the night contact with employees, customers, brokers, transportation brokers and dispatchers.

Requirements: 
  • Ability to work effectively with managers, employees, vendors, and customers
  • Conduct observations of personnel performing Shipping activities
  • Experience with Primus GFSI and/or USDA audits desirable
  • Possess strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Must have the ability to make independent, sound decisions, capable of communicating, and reporting functions both verbally and written
  • Experience in personnel management
  • Seasonal schedule November thru March, with potential to continue work in Off Season
  • Valid driver's license
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Assist in planning and developing procedures to improve quality and efficiency in the department
  • Oversee shipping activities, ensuring accuracy and completeness on all documents
  • Ensure trucks are accurately loaded and bills of lading are filled out completely and signed by truck drivers
  • Verify information on all documents including but not limited to commodity, label, size, pack, Lot /PO #, loading times, etc. Verify physical inventory counts Ensure accurate product rotation in the cooler Accurately maintain daily/weekly reports requested by company
  • Assist other departments in a timely manner to verify count discrepancies
  • Responsible for staff scheduling to include: work assignments, employee training, overtime assignments, back-up for absent employees, and shift rotations
  • Assist in scheduling and conducting staff training and safety meetings
  • Ensure that employees are trained and understand their job duties
  • Ensure all employees are following safety, food safety and food security guidelines
  • Responsible to develop and meet goals for your department
  • Keep the workplace a safe working environment Promptly deal with personnel issues
  • Show examples of respect and leadership Document in detail work related injuries
  • Follow-up promptly and thoroughly on shipping and inventory complaints from customers, and effectively communicate resolutions to internal and external stakeholders
Skills: 
  • Detail oriented, and possess strong computer skills, including Famous, MS Office and Excel Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
