JOB FILLED - Produce Operations Supervisor

Job Description: 

POSITION SUMMARY: Shift Supervisor is directly responsible for overseeing and evaluating employee contribution, performance, and development within the context of certain functions and operations for which they are accountable. The Shift Supervisor oversees the day-to-day duties of their designated team or department while fostering a sense of community and respect among team members.

POSITION SPECIFICS:

  • Compensation Information: $60,000 -65,000 base salary and bonus potential
  • Schedule/Shift Information: The operation runs Monday – Saturday. Saturdays will be rotated between Supervisor team. Shift starts at 6:00 am
  • Benefits: Include PTO, Medical, Dental, STD and Life Insurance as well as 401k.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE:

  • Team Leadership
  • Time and Attendance Management for the team, including reviewing punches daily and timesheets weekly. Review and approve time off.
  • Interviewing and Selection of candidates, in conjunction with Human Resources.
  • Responsible for the successful onboarding and training new team members. Facilitate the orientation on first day. Doing the correct touch points and processes. Quality, Safety, Process training.
  • Managing existing team members, including disciplinary and grievance procedures.
  • Providing ongoing training and coaching for team members.
  • Performance management and appraisals and giving performance feedback to all team members.
  • Measuring both individual and team metrics and performance against set targets.
  • Facilitate department meetings.
  • Daily report to Warehouse/Forklift to get product throughout the day.
  • Work though difficult conversations and conflict leveraging the HR team and management, gather facts, and keeps a level head.
  • Financial Oversight, Controls and Reporting
  • Responsible for managing yield and shrink and reporting abnormalities.
  • Accountable labor forecasting and scheduling.
  • Responsible for producing, reviewing, and summarizing daily, weekly and monthly reports (example, end of shift report).
  • Operational Excellence
  • Understand the requirements of each customer and determine product to consume.
  • Applies knowledge about the customer to inform decision making and problem solving.
  • Strives to provide additional value to the customer experience.
  • Actively solicits internal customer feedback to improve business relationships.
  • Suggests ways to improve the customer experience. Collaborates with colleagues to deliver high-quality service.

Food Safety and Quality:

  • Communicate quality needs and specs to all line team members for each product (color variation, labels, covers, etc.)
  • Communicate quality concerns with the inventory team and Operations Manager.
  • Cooperates with the Food Safety Quality departments to ensure compliance with all quality SOP's, maintaining audit ready status.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Engages and or leads departmental discussions to improve processes and outputs.
  • Actively communicates and advocates the advantages of change and how it will affect current processes.
  • Listens and responds to feedback regarding change and uncertainty.
  • Acknowledges uncertainty and accepts that change is constant.
  • Explores alternatives that would achieve a similar output, with the goal of achieving process simplification or efficiencies.
  • Seeks to learn from both successes and failures by sharing constructive coping strategies with team members.
  • Recommends measures for improving work procedures and worker performance to increase service quality and enhance job safety.
  • Analyze operational problems, such as theft and wastage, and establish procedures to alleviate these problems.
  • Collaboration in regard to new item development, is it in our scope, does this process make sense.

Safety First:

  • Ensures the manufacturing operations comply with safety, quality, and GMP requirements.
  • Reporting all incidents in an immediate manner.
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment supporting the safety and risk management process.
  • Stop production work immediately until hazards or quality issues can be resolved.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • 3+ years of experience working in a warehouse or manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to communicate clearly in English, both written and spoken.
  • Must be able to effectively utilize Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Excel and Work.
  • Be comfortable training team members 1:1 and in small groups.
  • Perform basic math, including creating basic excel formulas.
  • Understand the value of working as part of a team, and the need of the team to be successful by working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work side-by-side with team members that may not communicate fluently in the same language.
  • Ability to operate machinery on the line.

PREFERRED QUALIFIFCATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Previous work experience with MRP, ERP, or WMS technology preferred.
  • Bilingual.
  • Previous leadership/supervisory experience.
  • Produce Pro experience is a big plus, but not required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to distinguish color for grading produce.
  • Ability to work in cool to cold temperatures based off the food safety requirements of the produce.
  • Stand in a warehouse environment for the entirety of your shift.
  • Ability to work in a medium-high noise environment.
  • Lift 30 lbs. on a regular basis.

  • We work with produce to feed our communities. To keep our food safe, we work in cool to cold environments.
  • You must be willing to work in these conditions to ensure food safety.
