We are currently accepting resumes for the position of Maintenance Supervisor to join our team in Salinas, CA.

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the coordination and maintenance of all of the on and off-road equipment and yard facilities for Valley Pride and JTD Leasing companies.  Additionally, responsible for the coordination, planning and dispatching activities of the company’s Fleet Management and logistics program.  Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with all federal and state agencies, ensuring safety rules & practices are followed at all times, timely deliveries to all our customers, while optimizing efficiencies throughout the department.

Requirements: 
  • Be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. short distances.
  • Have the ability to perform other physical activities primarily associated with an outdoor, field environment in inclement weather ranging from less than 32°F up to 90°F plus.
  • Adequate vision, hearing and speech with which to conduct daily activities.
  • Ability to communicate verbally, comprehend and follow verbal instructions.
  • Have the willingness and ability to communicate and build relationships of trust with employees.
  • Have the ability to read and understand parts and service manuals.
  • Have the ability to review and correct time cards, parts requests, work orders and managerial reports.
  • Have the willingness and ability to enforce safety guidelines and assure that all work is performed safely and that personnel perform tasks wearing proper PPE as appropriate.
  • Have the ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Have the willingness to travel to remote locations to work.
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Administer, develop, and maintain Preventative Maintenance Program for on road and off-road vehicles and equipment.
  • Administer, develop, and maintain the company’s Fleet Management Program.
  • Ensure all reported work orders are followed-up and resolved in a timely & efficient manner.
  • Conducts extensive configuration, installation, diagnose faults and repairs equipment including, but not limited to, engines, drive components, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and electrical systems.
  • Work with third party vendors to negotiate service, parts, and equipment costs.
  • Communicate with vendors as necessary to coordinate outsourcing job or warranty labor.
  • Responsible for ensuring wage and hour compliance and submitting timely weekly payroll for AM & PM shift personnel and inter-company correspondence distribution.
  • Responsible for direction and coordination of drivers in accordance to crew start times and locations to ensure maximum equipment efficiency, utilization and costs, while ensuring compliance with federal and state agency regulations and programs.
  • Responsible for coordination of loads ready for product hauling, equipment movements and for ensuring Cut-to-Cool time is achieved effectively by monitoring that loads arrive to the cooling facility in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate 90 day inspections for all needed on-road company vehicles and equipment.
  • Ensure communication with Sea Mist Shop to assure the best service levels.
  • Administer and manage the Electronic Driver Log (ELD) system; review, approve and ensure all forms and logs are correctly completed on a daily basis and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Continually strive to improve equipment and department efficiency. Produce quality work while maintaining cost control.
  • Review and make recommendations on purchases and capital expenditures. Primary contact with third party regulators.
  • Ensure all personal protective and safety equipment are in suitable conditions, and available at all times; order or replace equipment as needed.
  • Ensure contractors and clients are compliant with documentation, insurances, etc.; review and approve contractor service invoices and billing, and submit in a timely manner for payment.
  • Develop business by researching industry techniques, procedures, and products.
  • Knowledge of employee counseling and disciplinary procedures, direct appropriate action and preparation of necessary documentation, in accordance to company policies.
  • Inform Field Operations Manager and appropriate office personnel in a timely manner of employee relations issues, progress and resolutions, driver updates; leaves of absences, workers’ compensation injuries and statuses, timesheet changes, etc.
  • Work in collaboration with Harvesting Supervisors and Safety Department to ensure fleet, equipment, and machinery are repaired and maintained according to manufacturer’s recommendations and company standards.
  • Attend all mandatory company meetings and compliance training sessions.
  • Responsible for employee supervision, development, and training including safety, food safety, discipline and motivation.
  • Establish and sustain strong and effective relationships with outside contractors, associates, customers, and supporting departments.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: 
  • Preferred: AA degree, certificate of vocational or trade school with emphasis in Maintenance.
  • 5-10 years of previous mechanical, electrical or maintenance supervision experience or equivalent experience
  • Bilingual/biliterate in English and Spanish is preferred. Ability to speak, read and write in English and Spanish without assistance is required.
  • Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software quickly and impart that to employees.
  • Valid Driver’s License, Class A, preferred.
  • Discreet handling of all business and employee matters (maintaining confidentiality at all levels is a must).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong communication skills.
  • Able to work well under pressure and meet various deadlines.
  • Must be extremely well organized and able to multitask.
  • May require continuing education in supervision, safety, and other job-related areas.
