We are currently searching for an experienced Produce Buyer to join our team in Salinas, CA.

Some things you’ll bring to the team.

  • Demonstrate excellence and discipline throughout the buying process (negotiations, work ethic, standards of behavior).
  • Drive departmental ownership and P&L mentality for product purchased without losing the gut instinct.
  • Develop relationships with and ensure we are aligned with the very best grower/shippers in your categories.
  • Effectively buy for multiple DC’s across all regions in the US and Canada.
  • Participate in major trade shows.
  • Identify and build relationships with new vendors to continue to deliver new opportunities at the right price in the right place at the right time.
  • Constantly drive optimal pricing / service level combination for your categories
  • Ability to network and cultivate relationships.
  • Data management/Analytical aptitude.
  • Voluminous produce product knowledge, including production, distribution, seasonal availability, and trends.
  • Working knowledge of logistics and freight channels.
  • Abide to the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and curiosity that has no limits. 

Basic Qualifications.

  • 7-10 years produce sales/purchasing experience required.
  • Proficient with MS Suite of products and produce /supply chain trading platforms.
  • Experience with analytics applications.
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements (FSMA, PACA, USDA.)
