We have an immediate opening for a Director of Procurement to join our team in Chico, CA.
The Director of Procurement and Merchandising is accountable for developing, implementing and directing the purchasing strategy of ProPacific Fresh. Accountable for the execution of purchasing initiatives that result in maximizing profitability, growth, market share, customer satisfaction, efficiencies and cost reduction.
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business or a related industry
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in Purchasing and Sourcing
- Minimum of 5 years of direct management experience of a procurement department
- In-depth knowledge of cost controls and pricing strategy
- Knowledge of Food Service industry
- Knowledge of procurement principles and processes
- Ability to lead, motivate, inspire and manage others
- Strong customer focus
- Strong negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Able to manage time efficiently and perform to deadlines, often adjusting in accordance to evolving priorities
- Ability to make sound decisions and react quickly to ever-changing market conditions
- High level of enthusiasm and optimism
- Knowledge of markets, customer buying patterns and forecasting demand
- Knowledge of inventory control, inventory turns and influence on cash flow
- Ability to research and develop new product lines
- Maintain awareness of food safety protocols
- Proficient with Produce Pro, Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel with ability and desire to learn new software programs as necessary
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work well and contribute positively in a team environment
- Able to quickly define problems, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Able to professionally represent the company at meetings and industry events
