Paragon Foods is the premier distributor of fresh and specialty foods to the restaurant and foodservice industry in Western Pennsylvania. The company operates an 88,000 square foot distribution facility in Warrendale, PA, located 18 miles north of Pittsburgh. In addition to fresh produce, Paragon provides other premium quality products to restaurants, hospitals, universities and K-12 schools, clubs and corporate dining clients throughout Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio and Northern West Virginia.
We now have a tremendous opportunity for a Buyer to join our team in Warrendale, PA.
The Buyer is responsible for the purchasing and negotiating of pricing of fresh food products within the Purchasing Department of a high-volume food service distribution center while
maintaining effective vendor relations, proper inventory levels, quality standards, and the minimization of spoilage.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- High school diploma or GED. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, logistics or related field is preferred.
- Two (2) years of related experience in procurement/inventory management.
- Specific experience with produce or epicurean product categories a plus.
- Strong organizational ability.
- Demonstrated success in independent problem-solving.
- Proficient in MS Excel, Outlook, and Word and prior experience working with ERP. Familiarity with Produce-Pro is a plus.
- Able to understand basic correspondence, instructions, rules, policies, graphs, and/or charts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to perform basic arithmetic.
We offer a great starting salary ($60,000 per year) DOE.
