Maui Fresh International is a wholesaler and distributor of fruits and vegetables for local and national customers since 2004. Maui offers a wide range of produce year-round and specializes in peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, eggplant, melons and Hawaiian papayas. Maui Fresh is based in Los Angeles, California and currently operates out of a 24,000 sq. ft lot inside the LA produce terminal and a 53,000 sq. ft. warehouse just a few blocks away from its market location.
We have an immediate need for a Food Safety and Compliance Manager to join our team in Los Angeles, CA.
The Food Safety & Compliance Manager will oversee all aspects of Maui Fresh food safety and compliance from received to shipped in the safest possible manner while instilling the idea of a Food Safety culture among all employees. Responsible for planning and directing Food safety policies, programs and initiatives to ensure company compliance with local, state and federal agencies.
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Minimum 5 years of working in food safety and compliance.
- B.S. in Food Science, or related field
- Proven problem solving, decision making, and project management skills are necessary for success.
- Required to read, speak, and understand English, and use customer service skills. Spanish speaking a plus.
- Primus v3.1 (current and/or Primus v3.2 (November 2021)
- Preventive Controls for Human Food – PCQI (FDA FSMA Rule) Required to sign off food safety documents.
- Foreign Supplier Verification Program – FSVP (FDA FSMA Rule) When company is the importer of record.
- Sanitation Transportation (FDA FSMA Rule) Company delivery trucks.
- Intentional Adulteration (FDA FSMA Rule) Need to know.
- Traceability (FDA FSMA Rule) Need to know.
- Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others.
- A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
