Headquartered in Hollister, California, the company’s ownership, and key alliance partners hold important production assets in California, Mexico, Chile, and Peru. We have a new opportunity for a talented, resilient, and highly motivated individual to be a part of our management team. As Commercial Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the continuity of supply in all lines of Berries from various established growing partners as well as establishing new growing strategic partners. An understanding of Berryfruit production, genetics and supply chain would also be advantageous.   

Duties:

  • Manage the current grower base effectively to achieve the best outcome for all parties.
  • Assist in further developing the grower base to ensure continuity of supply of Organic and conventional berries 12 months a year.
  • Manage and negotiate agreements with growers, breeders, and other strategic supply chain partners.
  • Ensure sustainable business for Berry People that is in line with strategic objectives.
  • Be a hands-on coach and mentor to the wider  team.
  • Extensive commodity experience with an understand of the US/Canada retail environment and expectations.
  • Drive continued company growth and profitability by delivering continuity, quality, and competitive COGS on a weekly basis.
  • Ensure all growers are complaint under the Berry People Compliance and Quality framework.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Highly effective communicator
  • Detail-oriented and able to work independently
  • Problem Analysis and Problem-Solving Skills
  • Working knowledge of Fresh Produce supply chain financial models.
  • Spanish Bi-Literacy Preferred* but not essential

Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture or Horticulture related field and/ or Business management.
  • Fresh Produce Experience is essential with experience in Berryfruit Preferred*

Working Relationships:

  • Management - Reports to the COO.
  • Outside Parties - Interacts with Breeders, Growers, Customers and other Service Providers or Trading Partners
  • Inside Parties – Works in collaboration with Management, Accounting, Sales, Compliance, Quality Assurance, and Operations.

Salary:   Salary commensurate with experience and ability.  Will consider higher placement for the appropriate candidate.
