JOB FILLED - Human Resources Manager

Job Description: 

The Human Resources Manager will oversee the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department and workflow, creating, implementing, and interpreting company policies and practices.  
            
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open salaried positions. 
  • Oversees the administration of the FLC contract approval process. May oversee field monitors for all CA ranches; may require visiting the ranches in CA, WA and OR for contract and wage and hour compliance.
  • May oversee the payroll process using ADP and Kronos.
  • Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.  
  • Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or Business, and 5 years of related prior experience, preferably in ag or food manufacturing, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  
  • Experience in FLC contract administration is preferred.  
  • Previous experience with social responsibility, food safety and benefit audits is a plus.  
  • APMA HR Certification and/or Cal State Bakersfield HR Certification a plus.  
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; bilingual in English and Spanish required. 
  • Effective interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Efficient time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to determine root cause to issues that arise, using skills of investigation, organizing thoughts and conclusions, and presenting these solutions to others.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations in CA, OR and WA.  Must be able to travel to all company ranches in all 3 states.
