Description

The Director of Food Safety and Quality Control is responsible for overseeing all aspects of food safety, product traceability, organics, regulatory compliance, and quality control across company owned and partnered facilities and farms. This full-time position is responsible for developing, maintaining, and enforcing policies as well as managing the work activities to ensure all processes and regulatory requirements remain satisfied. Must be certified for GFSI, PCQI, HACCP. Previous leadership and staff management experience in the fresh produce industry is preferred. This position is located in Plant City, FL and reports to the VP of Operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain all aspects of food safety, product traceability, organic, regulatory compliance, and quality control policies, procedures, and operational requirements in accordance with Federal and State laws as well as GAP/GMP’s.
  • Plan for and manage internal and external food safety, organic, and customer requested audits. Address audit nonconformities, implement corrective actions and preventive measures.
  • Prepare and deliver workforce training for food safety, organic, and quality control programs.
  • Develop, review, monitor and update, as required, policies and procedures related to business needs or compliance matters.
  • Provide leadership to direct reports for food safety, compliance, quality control and sanitation teams.
  • Be responsible for adherence to all food safety regulatory and Primus GFSI standards.
  • Investigate customer issues and complaints relating to food safety, traceability, compliance, and quality.
  • Maintain an active role on internal continuous improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS, PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field preferred
  • 5+ years of related experience required
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision
  • Great communication and team management skills
  • Proficient using MS Office products
  • Strong communication skills
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred

Schedule: Monday to Friday 8-5. On call to assist with any food safety or recall issues.
Travel: Periodic short-term travel may be required.
