JOB FILLED - General Manager

Job Description: 
Summary
The General Manager directs all facility operations, including receiving, shipping, maintenance, and inventory control. Responsibilities include directing and overseeing job assignments, ensuring customer satisfaction, and implementing employee and food safety requirements. This is a year-round position, located in Yuma Arizona.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following as well as other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned:
  • Ensure the safe and efficient receiving of product, storage and customer pick up.
  • Perform all necessary supervisory functions to manage personnel effectively and efficiently, including: 
    • Maintain a qualified staff. 
    • Communicate areas of responsibility and performance expectations. 
    • Conduct timely and effective employee evaluations and discipline. 
    • Ensure proper training of employees.
  • Maintain customer contact to ensure all requirements are met. 
  • Responsible for all aspects of the company’s Food Safety program. Works closely with company employees and outside agents to ensure food safety processes are clearly communicated, understood and documented. Participates in food safety audits and inspections.
  •  Responsible for approving accounts payable invoices, as well as overseeing all accounting activities, including accounts receivable and general ledger.
  • Continually monitors and evaluates the efficiency of operations, equipment, and work practices. 
  • Oversees all forklift rental, leases and maintenance.
  • Oversee the maintenance procedures of all equipment and facilities and ensures a highly organized and clean facility.
  • Provides a safe work environment in which safe practices and procedures are followed. 
  • Establishes and maintains effective channels of communications with co-workers, customers, affiliates, vendors and all other business contacts.
 
Background, Skills, and Abilities
 
  • Proven managerial success in the fresh produce industry, includes the ability to successfully, hire, train and discipline employees.
  • Must have excellent operational experience with administrative matters, such as management of operations, financial and managing employees.
  • Must be well organized, a self-starter, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize and plan work activities, using time efficiently. 
  • Strong teambuilding and leadership skills; able to lead, coach, inspire, motivate, and develop others; able to effectively delegate and follow-up. 
  • Must be able to make sound independent decisions based on available data.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • English/Spanish bi-lingual skills preferred
