Job Description:
American Apple and American Asparagus is a small family farm, grower / packer / shipper operation that represents multiple neighboring growers and is located just 7 miles inland from the shores of beautiful Lake Michigan.
We are seeking a Packing Operations Manager to oversee packing, shipping, receiving, and food safety, and improve processes and manage overall performance.
We are a family-owned business, and our ideal candidate will have a hands-on approach.
Requirements
- Improve productivity and profitability through inventory control and management reporting
- Analyze data to reduce costs and improve supply chain procedures
- Implement the most efficient Lean Manufacturing principles to ensure throughput is maximized
- Tracks cost of inventory and supplies to plan effective strategies for the financial wellbeing of the company
- Review sales and activity reports to effectively address any operational issues that may affect customer service
- Manage the movement of product and ensure proper storage and distribution
- Implement and oversee preventive maintenance plans
- Oversee staff and assign tasks to maintain a clean, safe, and secure working environment
- Determine hiring needs and taking disciplinary action when necessary
- Improve the efficiency of IT and develop systems and procedures to enhance the efficiency of warehouse operations
Qualifications:
- Degree in Agriculture or Information Technology or equivalent work experience
- 4+ years of experience; Produce industry preferred or manufacturing
- Food Safety Experience preferred
- Excellent project management, problem solving and organizational skills
- Bilingual – English / Spanish speaking preferred
