Job Description: 

Bay Baby Produce, Inc. is looking for an energetic, team-oriented, motivated self-starter with strong leadership, communication and organizational skills. The ideal candidate will have the ability to problem-solve, plan, resolve, and execute strategic actions based on long-term and short-term business goals. The Operations Manager is a pivotal role on the dynamic BBP Management team, and must be able to collaborate on several levels. Knowledge and experience in policies and procedures according to OSHA, GMP, GAP, L&I, FDA, USDA, Primus, organic systems and other agricultural-based regulations and agencies is of key value in this role. This position demands a high level of responsibility, determination, and grit, as well as the ability to grow with this amazing company.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating activities associated with both farm and warehouse operations. For the farm duties the Operations Manager will work in conjunction with the Farm Manager to focus on accurately planning and overseeing execution of activities associated with land acquisition, planting, field maintenance and applications, and harvest practices. The Operations Manager will work with the Farm Manager in execution of related activities. Within the warehouse the Operations Manager will focus on executing all operations associated with the production of agricultural commodities. This includes accurately planning production schedules and overseeing production activities such as; inventory and traceability, storage, shipping and maintenance scheduling. The Operations Manager will collaborate with the Maintenance Manager in execution of related activities. The Operations Manager will work collaboratively with all other managers to achieve departmental goals. This role is accountable for and responsible for multiple facets of business operations to ensure overall success, as such this role is a direct report to the Company President and the Company Vice President.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Achieve operational goals by contributing information and recommendations to strategic action planning
  • Collaborate with management to meet financial objectives by forecasting requirements, preparing annual budgets, and strategically scheduling expenditures
  • Develop and oversee product handling and storage procedures including; receiving, inventory and product traceability
  • Oversee and train staff in proper product traceability and flow through management utilizing software programs
  • Develop warehouse design by planning layout, production flow, product handling systems
  • Evaluate and recommend new equipment for process improvement
  • Analyze process workflow, staffing and space requirements, equipment layout for continuous process improvement
  • Coordinate with the Sales Team to forecast demands and draft annual planting and production schedules
  • During production season, outline daily goals for production via work orders in line with sales.
  • During production season, coordinate w/Maintenance on routine maintenance schedules to minimize equipment down time
  • During production season, coordinate with Farm manager on product volume/variety needs based off sales.
  • Coordinate with Financial Controller & HR coordinator on labor cost tracking
  • Keep and maintain accurate records of all field activities associated with the operation
  • Maintain compliance and proper filing of all USDA/WSDA Organic Program requirements
  • Assist Farm Manager with the annual WSDA Organic Program recertification process
  • Assist Food Safety Compliance Manager in conducting annual PrimusGFS recertification
  • Support Farm Manager in land acquisition and field maintenance activities
  • Coordinate with HR Manager to create and implement hiring action plans, and employee training action plans
  • Coordinate with HR Manager to conduct employee annual performance reviews
  • Conduct employee training, counseling and disciplinary actions as needed
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with third party vendors
  • Attend relating trainings, workshops and conferences as needed
  • Additional duties as assigned

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Competency in supervisory/managerial role in a related industry is required
  • Good proficiency with MS Office programs, Datatech/Famous or similar inventory software
  • Effective interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task effectively
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to lift 50 LBs on a consistent basis
Compensation/Salary: 
Starting at $85,000 DOE with YE bonus incentive
