Responsibilities:
- The Safety Manager has wide ranging responsibilities across two production facilities, farm and any other company owned or leased properties
- Establish safety policies/procedures to ensure compliance with company policies and federal/state/local regulatory requirements
- Inspect facilities, shops, farm and equipment to detect existing or potential accident hazards or environmental incidents and determine corrective or preventive measures
- Develop training programs for all levels of operations with the objective to have a safer, more efficient, engaged, and productive facility and field employees (Safety Culture)
- Manage and monitor training programs to meet Company and Regulatory requirements
- Assure all records are kept in accordance with State and Federal regulations including OSHA logs and training documents
- Help streamline record keeping and reporting using digital solutions
- Develop, implement, and recommend programs and practices designed to reduce work-related injuries and illnesses including but not limited to ergonomic assessments and job hazard analysis
- Thoroughly and immediately investigate all accidents, incidents and near misses using root cause analysis
- Based on investigations and findings, provide and ensure adherence to corrective action plans, provide coaching and guidance, preventative measures, and informed best practices
- Be willing to learn and manage food safety programs and compliance with all auditing schemes for farm and facilities
The position will be accountable for:
- Providing overall company safety and compliance leadership
- Ensuring compliance with company’s safety standards

- Improving safety performance through effective training
- Ensuring safety policies and procedures are aligned with governmental regulations
Competencies:
- Knowledge and working understanding of OSHA, EPA, regulatory compliance, experience with inspections, incident investigations, remediation, process safety
- Bilingual in Spanish and English required
- OSHA 300 certification, CSP, ASP or STS preferred
- Understanding of process flow and risk assessment of equipment
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- • Ability to thrive and demonstrate accountability in scenarios of high ambiguity and autonomy, while maximizing the contributions and growth of the team
- • Knowledge and work experience with GAP, National Organic Program and FSMA is a plus
- • Well organized and able to multitask; work independently and manage a project from initiation to completion with minimal supervision
Required Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent required; College level degree in safety or related field is preferred
- Five (5) plus years safety experience with a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience
Physical Demands:
- The ability to walk and/or stand for several minutes and the ability to lift objects weighing less than fifty (50) pounds is required on occasion. On rare occasions, the role may be required to lift and/or move objects weighing more than fifty (50) pounds
- The continuous use of both hands; including grasping, pulling, and pushing. The ability to walk and/or balancing on even and uneven surfaces, standing, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, climbing, reaching forward, and reaching overhead and/or below the shoulder.
- Travel especially same day commuting around company’s properties, and some multi-day travel assignments to include overnight stays at company’s expense will be required.

- Frequently utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard
- Occasionally required to lift/push/carry items up to 50 pounds
- Occasionally required to work outside exposed to weather conditions
- Occasional exposure to extreme heat or cold (non-weather)

Pay Range: $90k-$120k/Salary depending on experience
Location: Bakersfield, CA 93309, on-site (Remote considered for ideal candidate)
FLSA and Employment Status: Exempt, full-time
