Job Description: 

We are seeking a finance guru to join our team in Lake Park, Georgia! 

The Controller reports to the Vice President – Accounting and Finance, and is responsible for oversight of the fiscal functions of the organization. This Controller manages all functional areas of accounting while keeping the company in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles GAAP, as well as all banking account functions, accounts receivable and accounts payable. Provides both operational and managerial support to the overall organization through budget management, accounting and general ledger management, and treasury. The Controller is a member of the accounting and finance leadership team, advising the VP – Accounting and Finance and the President.

Requirements: 
  • Must have demonstrated strategic leadership and developing of a company’s fiscal plans and programs.
  • Strong project management and accounting system implementation experience.
  • Experience designing, building, and delivering actionable management reporting as well as GAAP-compliant financial statements.
  • Able to set a clear vision, set expectations, enforce accountability, mentor, support, and coach subordinates.
  • Ability to enhance, develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the company.
  • Strong analysis skills for operating departments’ business planning, capital expenditure projects and asset/land purchases, including assessments and recommendation of timing, overall budget, goals and objectives.
  • Effective and persuasive presentation skills on complex accounting topics to the President and company leadership team at all levels within the organization.  Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong ability to utilize various hardware and software formats a must; preference for expertise in Famous Software, Ceridian payroll systems, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, general accounting ledgers, and budget formats.
  • Able to operate collaboratively with a team attitude, while exhibiting sound judgement and professionalism. Must have a curious to learn attitude of all functional areas to better align how accounting can better support and improve processes for the overall company to grow revenue and profit.
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to think strategically, multi-task, and set priorities effectively. Strong sense of urgency and passion for constant improvement. Must be results driven, flexible and able to handle stress.
  • Ability to maintain confidential and proprietary information. Able to operate with the highest ethics and integrity at all-times.
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Initially to act as change agent managing the accounting department personnel and systems through reorganization to support business functions, including consolidation of accounting systems, creation and implementation of accounting and cash management policies and procedures and reporting formats.
  • Oversight of the consolidation of two accounting software systems (consolidating QuickBooks into Famous Accounting Software), together with identification and implementation of new system modules, and the design, build and delivery of effective management and GAAP reporting.
  • Assessment of business financial risks; building and implementing systems, reporting, and policies and procedures responsive to those financial risks.
  • Manage accounting personnel reorganization and implementation of accounting department structure; assess and recruit talent to optimize the accounting team.
  • Respond to the company Vice President – Accounting and Finance, President, and Investor with accurate and timely work to facilitate their financial needs.
  • Work closely with the private equity investor to provide accurate and dependable business and tax information.
  • Ensure accounting functions are consistent with the company’s goals and objectives through management and coordination of account reporting activities for the organization including; company revenue/expense and balance sheet reports, and control/monitoring functions of department and company budgets.
  • Advise on impact of both short and long-term planning, introduction of new planning and strategies.
  • Develop controlling policies and procedures for all accounting activities, including to ensure acute/timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, core employee expenses reports, and cash controls.
  • Oversee activities of the accounts receivable department to ensure accurate/timely management of accounts receivable aging components including billings, cash reports and check management.
  • Works closely with investor to provide detail and ensure corporate tax compliance.
  •  Manage cashflow forecasting and capital call communications with equity investor.
Education: 

Bachelor’s degree and CPA certification required. Strong preference for experience in agriculture, produce, and/or manufacturing. Experience in inventory/cost accounting, state/local taxation, system consolidation are desired. Fifteen-years of hands-on accounting experience, to include demonstrated management/leadership of overall accounting function of an accounting team of 8-15 people.
