The Buyer supports the Senior Buyer in all relevant areas of business. Under the direction of the Senior Buyer, the Buyer will support weekly store and distribution center customer service, facilitation of store orders and product distributions, vendor purchase orders, retail item and price management, business report development and analysis, and vendor relations.

Requirements: 
  • Bachelor Degree preferred with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in Buying; or an acceptable combination of education and experience
  • Ability to successfully manage concurrent projects and meet deadlines
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to preserve confidentiality of information
  • Strong sense of urgency with the ability to prioritize
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Primary customer service for all stores including: assisting to resolve store department issues for orders, DC invoicing, DSD invoicing, missing product investigation, and local supplier support
  • Primary customer contact person for all distribution centers including: allocation of products to each store, inventory control support, vendor delivery schedule supervision, communication and recover of rejected product, etc.
  • Weekly procurement and purchase order writing for every day, promotional and holiday needs.
  • Prepare, maintain, and review purchasing files for quantity and cost accuracy
  • Utilize system tools to provide consistent reporting on every day, promotional and holiday programs
  • Assist the Category Manager with analyzing progress against department’s objectives and initiatives
  • Provide the stores with relevant historical sales data to make informed decisions about the department and how to maximize profitability with direction from the Category Manager
  • Manage inventory count sheets to assure accuracy
  • Manage weekly availability guides to facilitate store ordering
  • Assist in vendor and new item set up and maintenance processes
  • Assist with all weekly regular and promotional merchandising communication tactics for the regional and store teams
  • Work directly with suppliers to facilitate collection of item, cost, and delivery information
  • Work directly from the support office and be available to the stores both by phone and email during the hours assigned
