Croda is seeking a full-time Quality Control (QC) Manager for our Integrated Coating and Seed Technology (INCOTEC) business in our Salinas, CA manufacturing facility. The QC Manager will be responsible for the supervision of the QC lab and QC personnel during their daily duties. Verify and review all necessary quality documentation associated with the testing of product as determined by ISO guidelines. Organize and present germination test data as part of the product quality resolution process. Present findings and provide objective opinions on explanations of product quality. Maintain strong working relationship with Customer Service, Production and Commercial departments.
- Minimum BS Degree in biology or related field with emphasis in analytical analysis
- 5 years QA/QC experience in seed testing laboratory
- 2 years of management experience preferred
- Proficient in MS Office
- Knowledge of ISO standards
- Must have written and oral proficiency in the English language
- Ability to walk, stand or sit for a minimum of 8 hours per day

Manage & Supervise Daily Germination Laboratory Activities:
- Receive customer complaints regarding product quality issues, assist investigation of complaint and respond to customer in a timely manner.
- Daily supervision of germination laboratory staff to maximize efficiency and maintain high department morale.
- Make product recommendations based on suitability test results and seed lot history.
- Assure that germination laboratory maintains certifications and follows AOSA rules.
- Maintain minimum level of 2 RST’s on staff with optimum level at 3 RST’s
- Comparison with other labs including 3rd party labs.
- Manage MT lab of powders.
- Maintain RST certificate and membership to SCST
- Evaluate questionable germ results of raw seeds and finished products and notify the appropriate department. Request for retest where applicable.
- Sign off commercial orders base on suitability results, lot histories or waivers.
- Issue germ and purity certificates.
Product and Quality Concerns:
- Coordinate and be directly involved in all internal and external customer product concerns.
- Meet with customers and prepare informational reports to present data
Administrative:
- Manage all ISO documents related to QC lab operations.
- Prepares annual expense and CapEx budgets.
- Prepare performance evaluations to direct reports.
- Maintain a safe work environment for employees by enforcing lab safety policies and procedures.
