The Shipping Manager is responsible for oversight of all activities in the department necessary to ensure mushrooms and other produce is ready to ship on time and accurately per customer specifications.
- A minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in a produce warehousing/shipping operation.
- Robust documentation, organizational and communication skills are crucial.
- Ability to prepare reports and maintain accurate records.
- Strong presentation skills – ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Proven knowledge of health, safety, food safety, standards and regulations related to warehousing activities.
- Knowledge and experience with warehouse/shipping inventory and asset tracking systems.
- Knowledge of palletizing and safe trailer loading procedures.
- General knowledge of modern warehouse and inventory practices.
- Ability to plan and supervise the work of others.
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with associates, customers, and vendors.
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft office suite. Experience with Produce Pro, and exposure to skid level product inventory systems preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferable.
- Daily management of the Shipping department including labor allocations, leading meetings, assigning job duties, and providing corrective action, as needed.
- Ensures efficient production flow processes and standard operating procedures are in place and are being followed.
- Ensures that warehouse and shipping inventory systems and protocols are in place and are being followed.
- Ensures orders are picked and shipped timely, accurately, within cost constraints, and meet quality standards.
- Identify process improvement and cost reduction opportunities. Implement procedures to improve quality, productivity and efficiency.
- Monitor a variety of operational data, including inventory losses, production goals and safety reports, identify problems, determine causes and recommend changes.
- Process and prepare shipping reports as needed.
- Effectively communicate daily details of the operation with all subordinates, peers, and upper management.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organized warehouse at all times, and ensuring that this is a priority of every employee.
- Ensures warehouse equipment is in good/safe operational condition.
- Monitors and ensures integrity of our products and ensures that food safety standards are met.
